EcoEng Newsletter No. 8, December 2003

About this issue

Dear readers of this newsletter,

the content of this issue reflects an exciting year for the Ecological Engineering community and for IEES:

1. In October / November, another conference on Ecological Engineering has taken place at the Harvard School of Design in Boston. For the first time an IEES-supported meeting was held in the USA. Some of the outcomes of this meeting are presented in the focus topic of this newsletter, e.g. a summary on a presentation on cradle-to-cradle design.

2. We have finally created our own environment for communication and e-Learning on the internet: mynetworks.org. You are welcome to register as members of mynetworks (it's free), have a look around and join a chat with co-developer M. Pereira and myself later this week. Please read "myNetWorks is here - how can I use it?" for your inspiration.

I am very happy that beyond these two major issues we again have an interesting selection of articles. Yousef Subuh from Palestine presents his work on dry sanitation under the adverse conditions in the Palestine of today. Folke Günther gives a comprehensive report about a wetpark in Sweden. M.J. Gilooley and C. Rice present the ideas and findings that stand behind the initiative "Plants at Works". And our author R. Shanthini sent in a charming and inspiring booklet about composting, which will be published in a series of articles in the next few issues of this newsletter.

I hope you will enjoy reading this newsletter and I appreciate your feedback.

Yours sincerely

Andreas Schoenborn-Schaller
