Writer's fund

EcoEng Newsletter No. 10, December 2004

Support young technical writers on Ecological Engineering issues!!!

Why this fund?
50 US$ are not a lot of money in Western industrialized countries!

With 50 US$ you can really make a difference for a technical writer in the developing world!

For 50 US$, in the developing world you can...

  • have an in-depth journalistic field research on an Ecological Engineering issue
  • make an inspiring interview with an experienced professor
  • get a report on the wastewater situation in a specific city and what Ecological Engineers can do about it
  • help a technical writer in the developing world to become better known and make an impact

If you like this newsletter, please help us to get good reports in the future!
Please donate 20, 30 or more US$ to our new writer's fund.

  How to donate?

If you want to donate, the easiest way is to send a cheque on the amount you'd like to give to the following address:

IEES - EcoEng-Newsletter
c/o armadillo media gmbh
PO Box 2116
CH-6002 Luzern
Switzerland

Please also send a short email to the editor of this website, indicating your willingness to donate to the writers' fund and whether you want your name to be published on the IEES website.

How will the money be spent
Technical writers interested in Ecological Engineering issues may from now on send in an abstract of their idea in English language (not longer than 1 A4 page) to the editor of this website, currently consisting of Andreas Schoenborn and Carl Etnier. Based on the drafts we receive, we will periodically decide which kind of work will be financed from the fund. Drafts can be sent in at any time. There are no deadlines.

The criteria we will apply to the drafts are:

  • does the idea fit into the scope of Ecological Engineering?
  • is the idea interesting and relevant for the EcoEng-Newsletter?
  • is the quality of the English adequate for the newsletter
  • is the journalistic and scientific quality sufficient

The decisions will be made rather quick and on an informal basis. There is no legal right for an idea to be funded. If scope or quality of the final article deviate gravely from the abstract the decision was based upon, we reserve the right to not publish work for which payment had been promised. In this hopefully rare case, no payment will be made.

  Information on the fund
Information about the state of the IEES writer's fund will be regularly published on the IEES website.
Thank you very much for helping us to keep up and improve the quality of this newsletter!
