• Innovative approaches to the cost-effective improvement of the hygienic conditions in cities and the water quality in surface waters
• Ideas that increase the efficiency of known wastewater and sewage sludge treatment systems
• Ideas and proposals that reduce the energy consumption and costs of treatment plants
• "New problems" not yet identified generally and proposals for solutions to these problems

All students and doctorands of both national and international universities or colleges of higher education who wish to contribute with a solution to one of these groups of themes or have already contributed within the scope of their diploma, bachelor ormaster thesis or dissertation are called upon to participate. Both individual and team proposals are welcome. Closing date is 31 March 2010.

The prize money to be awarded is 10'000 (ten thousand) Euro. The jury reserves the
right to distribute this sum to several winners (however not more than four). Each of
the participants will be awarded a certificate.
