Oct. 14, 2003 EcoEng-Newsletter 2/2003 to be published in November

The next EcoEng-Newsletter will be issued after the conference on "Ecological Engineering for Integrated Water Management: Designing Industrial and Urban Watersheds", to take place from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 in Harvard, USA. Our co-editor Carl Etnier will be there in person and will report about the event.

The next issue will also feature an interview with Dr. René Haller, Baobab Trust, Kenya about his lifelong work on Baobab farm, his ideas and visions.

It is to be expected that Joe Swamp will be present in this issue as well, in one way or the other, although I personally haven't seen him for a while...

You are invited to contribute information about seminars, conferences or interesting projects of yours at any time. We'll try to include them into this issue, if they come timely enough. The deadline for longer articles will pass tomorrow.

Sep. 17, 2003 Volunteers needed for IBSnet e-seminar

IBSnet co-organized the Internet Conference on Ecocity Development last Feb. to June. Jackie Foo is now planning another Internet conference on water and wastewater treatment for next year in cooperation with the Department of Biotechnology (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm). He is in the process of submitting a grant application.

Before the end of this year, he'd like someone to help organize and moderate an e-seminar.

How to do it:

  • surf the web to check out if there is an interesting paper on IBS that interest you.
  • Then find out if the author is willing to present the paper for a 3-week discussion over Internet
  • Let Jackie Foo know and he will make ET-W2 list (for e-seminars) available and assist to you to organize the e-seminar where you will be the editor.
